  Remedies Available to Pursue Past Due Child Support

 

 

What are the remedies available for pursuing past-due child support?

We have serveral remedies available to pursue past-due child support. Among these are:

Submittal to the U.S. Department of the Treasury for collection via the administrative offset process.

Submittal to the U.S. Department of the Treasury for collection via the Internal Revenue Service.

Submittal to the State Department if $2,500 or more is owed, for pursuit of passport denial, revocation, restriction or limiting.

Submittal to the Illinois Comptroller. Submittal to the Consumer Reporting Agencies.

Submittal to the Illinois Department of Revenue or private collection agencies.

Submittal to the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services' Collection and Asset Recovery Unit.

Submittal to the Illinois Department of Professional Regulations or other state licensing agencies .
