If an individual does not agree with the amount owed, they have the right to request a hearing. The notice of intent of publication explains that the request must be received at least 10 days before the date given as the deadline for publication on the list.

Request for a Hearing

The request for a hearing must be submitted in writing, along with all payment records and court orders proving that they do not owe the balance stated.

For judicial orders, circuit clerk records must be submitted. HFS will have record of payments made to the State Disbursement Unit or the department, if the circuit court record does not include all payments.
