registrars and county clerks to give unmarried parents the chance
to voluntarily acknowledge paternity as soon as possible after
their baby is born and to give parents a verbal and written explanation
of their rights and responsibilities.
You should not sign the acknowledgement form until
you receive your written and verbal explanation.
