| If I apply for or receive All Kids Assist (Medical Assistance), am I required to cooperate with the Division of Child Support Enforcement even if I do not receive cash assistance?
Yes. The Department of Healthcare and Family Services's Division of Child Support Enforcement assists custodial parents who receive only medical assistance. As a condition of the custodial parent's eligibility for All Kids Assist (but not your child(ren)'s eligibility), you must cooperate with the Division of Child Support Enforcement to establish parentage and obtain health insurance coverage for your child(ren), unless you are declared exempt for good cause. A staff member, called a Family Support Specialist, your All Kids caseworker and other representatives of the department will assist you.
If only my child(ren) receive All Kids Assist, and I do not receive medical assistance, am I still required to cooperate with the Division of Child Support Enforcement?
No, however, you will be sent a letter from the Division of Child Support Enforcement informing you that you are eligible to receive child support services. If you are interested, you must fill out the application that accompanies the letter and return it to the department so we may assist you in obtaining the child support your child(ren) deserve.
What services does the Child Support Enforcement program offer?
The Division of Child Support Enforcement provides child support services that include:
- establishing paternity, child support order and health insurance order establishment,
- locating the parent responsible for paying support, and
- enforcement of your child support and/or health insurance order.
Establishment and/or enforcement of a monetary child support order is not a condition of eligibility for receiving All Kids Assist or only medical assistance, however, this service is also offered to you. Will I have to pay for the child support enforcement services if I do not receive medical assistance?
No, the services are free to any custodial parent seeking child support assistance. You do not have to be on any type of assistance to receive child support services.
